During several trips to India, it was observed that animal care for stray animals is predominantly available in main cities. This is a significant issue because the rural–urban distribution in India is 68.84% and 31.16% respectively. This means, almost 70% of India's population lives in rural areas, however rural areas lack facilities or access to basic care for stray animals. The objective of Animal Care Zone is to link the missing pieces by helping animals in rural areas.

India is home to more than 15 million street dogs, more than 5 million stray cows, and a large unreported number of stray cats. Over the years, India has seen rapid development in Metropolitan cities. This also includes establishments of animal NGO's and government facilities for animal care. However, animals in rural areas do not have access to this medical care because of their geographical location away from city centres. If street animals in rural India meet with an injury, they do not receive medical care at the right time. Due to limited resources in their region, these animals suffer in pain and agony, to no avail, until their last breath. Animal Care Zone aims to bring light to this situation faced by rural animals and help by increasing their access to timely and appropriate care.
