Canada

Picture
Northern rural Canadian communities such as First Nation Reserves have  a large number of stray dogs and cats. They could pose a public health risk because most of them are unvaccinated and unsterilized. The objective of Animal Care Zone is to conduct spay/neuter clinics in Northern regions to help control the population of strays in these places, which often go unnoticed.

Meeting Needs in Canada

Picture
Animal Care Zone focuses on helping stray dogs in First Nations Communities. Canada has over 3000 First Nations Communities, most of which are in remote areas. The stray dogs from these areas do not receive much attention or access to vet care. When temperatures go below 0, puppies often freeze to death. Without spay/neuter, the number of dogs grows significantly. Unfortunately, sometimes this is controlled by dog culls. Animal Care Zone conducts spay/neuter drives in these areas, thereby reducing the need for other stricter measures.
