Hi there, I’m Lucky Dumpling, and I'm as cute as my name! I’ve been around for about 10 years now, and I’m pretty good at taking life slow. I was found during the Kenneth fires in West Hills, CA which.....well, wasn’t the best time for me. But luckily, I’ve found a cozy spot to rest my paws and a foster family who really cares about me. I’m still wondering what my forever home will look like, but I’m hopeful that it will be everything I need and more. These days, I’m all about comfort. I love my bed and my blanket—if you’ve ever seen a dog in pure bliss, that's me when I’m curled up on my blankie. Napping is my specialty, though I do enjoy a short walk now and then. I can’t go too far, though, ‘cause my back legs have a little arthritis. But that's okay—I’m not in a rush. Every day is a good day when you know how to pace yourself and enjoy the little things. My foster home has some stairs, but I'm told I shouldn't be going up and down the stairs too much, so that might be something you have to help me manage.
I am also a bit hard of hearing, but I guess this comes with age? Oh and apparently I have a heart murmur, which the vet said is common in older, smaller dogs like me. The good news is that my echocardiogram revealed that my heart is still functioning well, it's the perfect size and the heart muscles are still strong. Therefore, I currently do not need any meds; hopefully it stays that way for the next few years to come.
If you’re looking for a calm companion to share some loving years with, I might just be the one for you! I promise I’m low-maintenance—just a little love and a comfy spot is all I need. And don’t worry, I’m still full of heart. I may be older, but I’m making the most of every tail wag and every passing day.
Here is a little bit more about my routine. I eat twice a day, and enjoy sniffing all the different scents outside. I am okay in the crate for a couple of hours and we are working on increasing this time. If you leave the crate door open, I will go in happily, but if you lock the crate door it makes me nervous. Also, if you leave for long periods of time and keep me alone, I will miss you! My foster parents are trying to help me be a little more independent. However, that being said, I would love it if at least one person in my new family would work from home mostly. I would thrive in any environment. Either a house (where I don't have access to stairs) or an apartment. I am not picky. I just need a little exercise and most importantly - your love.
*Side note from the founder of ACZ - We are devastated to hear and see the state of all these displaced animals during the LA Fires in January 2025. Countless of animals have lost their homes, been abandoned, gone missing or have got injured in the extreme wildfire conditions we experienced in Los Angeles. Please consider giving Lucky Dumpling a loving home in his golden years.
