I am Captain, or you can call me Captain America if you are a marvel comics fan! I’m happy, laid-back and full of love. I promise I will be a ray of sunshine in your life. For reasons I do not understand and do not think about anymore (the past is in the past), I ended up at a high kill dog pound in California. I was very scared and did not interact with the public. I was also so scared of the staff there that I stood in a corner and would shiver every time they came near me. I don't know what this means, but I was on a '72-hour euthanasia list.' Apparently it meant I would go to sleep forever, but - no, no, no I don't want to sleep... I want to explore, go on walks, meet other dogs, eat treats, go to the beach and so much more! Now I’m living the comfy life with my foster parents and ready to steal the hearts of my furever family.
I did not have a good experience in my past life, so I may be a bit timid/shy/anxious around you at first. But I know not all humans are bad. Give me just a little time and I will warm up to you. And by time, I just mean a day or two. I blossom easily. My foster parents use the word 'gentle' to describe me. I would agree. I am gentle with everyone I meet, hoomans of all age and sizes. I am an easy-going guy and good with other dogs. My foster parents always compliment me on my calmness indoors. Outdoors is no exception. I get many compliments from other dog parents on my calm demeanour even while on walks. I walk pretty well on a leash and stay close to you. Oh, and people also say many nice things about my soft and shiny black fur coat.
I spend more of my day napping. Even though I am young, I have a old-soul. I don't have crazy puppy energy, I prefer the laissez-faire life. Don't worry, I also have no interest in biting or chewing up your furniture. Although, if you invite me up on the bed, I will join you! I am a cattle dog, so that means I am a 'working dog' and would require a good amount of exercise and stimulation every day. Do you like to jog? I would be so happy to be your jogging buddy. My breed is known to be loyal and protective—just like me! I would thrive in any environment. Either a house or an apartment - I am not picky. I just need regular exercise and most importantly - your love.
*Side note from the founder of ACZ - We do not understand how such well behaved dogs like Captain end up on the euthanasia list at the dog pound. He does not even have 'one bad bone' in his body. There are so many well tempered, kind and gentle dogs at dog shelters who just want love and nothing more. Please adopt a shelter dog today and save their life [literally...]
